A Brief History of Pie
January 23, 2023Have you ever reached the end of a Thanksgiving dinner and felt too full to eat dessert? Maybe you took a couple bites of pie just to appease whoever brought it, but pie was an afterthought.
Thanksgiving pie deserves its own time to shine in spotlight, which is why we love the idea of Pie Night!
What Is Pie Night?
Pie Night is traditionally held the night before Thanksgiving, and is a celebration of pie! You can observe Pie Night by choosing to eat only pie for dinner, having a pie cocktail party with a variety of pies brought by guests or just getting creative on what constitutes a pie (e.g. pizza pie or chicken pot pie).
Pie Night Perks
- Try New Pies! When pie is the only thing on the menu, you can branch out and try new flavors like Mehaffies Raisin Pie, a Sugar Cream Pie or a recipe you’ve never made.
- Celebrate with More Family & Friends! Pie Night is an excellent way to extend the Thanksgiving holiday and celebrate with more family and friends who might not be at your Thanksgiving dinner table. Make Pie Night into a party, and invite those who you’re most thankful for (or whoever you know will bring the best pie).
- Make New Family Memories! Getting a night to eat pie for dinner can become a core memory and a favorite family tradition. Get the kids involved in planning the pies on the menu, order some of their own mini pies or get them in the kitchen to help bake.
- It’s Easy as Pie! With all the cooking and planning that goes into Thanksgiving, having an “easy as pie” dinner the night before is a welcome break – whether you make your favorite pies or take it easier and order them from your favorite bakery.
Pie Night can be held anytime of year, and especially festive during the holiday season! Give Mehaffies a call to order pies for your celebration.
