Because it was the only form of baking container used, everything was actually a pie! By the time pie crossed the Atlantic with European Settlers, it had already become a consistent symbol of comfort and home. In America, we quickly began to showcase local, plentiful ingredients like apples, cherries, and pumpkins. This secured pie as a cornerstone of family gatherings and holiday celebrations.
